At the door
Getting Into Elements Casino Victoria
Guests must be at least 19 to enter Elements Casino Victoria. On arrival each person presents government-issued photo ID, a requirement shared by all casinos in British Columbia.

Nineteen, rain or shine
British Columbia sets the legal gambling age at 19, for casinos and online gambling alike. No one under the age of 19 may set foot in a gambling venue or take part in gambling of any kind. At Elements Casino Victoria, the limit therefore starts at the entrance rather than at a table.
The casino asks every guest for government-issued photo ID on entry. Its event booklet adds a second request. Guests aged 19 to 25 are asked to carry a second piece of valid ID as well. Two cards in a wallet cover both checks.
The scan at the door
Since June 26, 2023, entry to any B.C. casino requires showing government-issued photo ID. The rule is provincial, so it applies at Elements Casino Victoria and at every other casino in the province. Security scans the card on arrival.
Security compares every scanned card with a roster of people who may not come in. Game Break, the province's voluntary self-exclusion program, places its enrolees on that roster. Nothing personal is stored by the system once a guest is admitted. The scan works as a check, not a record.
Photo ID accepted at the door
- A B.C. driver's licence or any North American driver's licence is accepted.
- Both B.C. identity cards work: the B.C. Identity Card (BCID) and the B.C. Services Card.
- A Canadian or international passport counts, as do the Canadian citizenship card and the Canadian permanent resident card.
- The Secure Certificate of Indian Status card is accepted, along with membership cards issued by First Nations, Metis or Inuit bands.
- Global Affairs Canada's Canadian identity card and government-issued foreign ID complete the list.
Game Break and the entrance check
Game Break is the voluntary self-exclusion program for casinos in British Columbia. People enrol in person at a casino or community gaming centre, bringing government-issued photo ID. An electronic meeting with a BCLC employee is the other route. A person picks 1 year, 6 months, 3 years or 2 years. After the choice, the term stays fixed and cannot be altered.
The ID scan at the entrance is what enforces it: enrolled people are on the restricted list the door checks against. Self-exclusion from gambling facilities also covers PlayNow.com for the same period. Elements Casino Victoria has its own GameSense Info Centre on site, and a GameSense Advisor is available at every casino in BC.
Questions at the desk
How old must guests be?
The minimum age for every visitor is 19. British Columbia sets 19 as its legal gambling age, and nobody younger may enter a gambling venue.
Is a foreign passport accepted?
An international passport is accepted at B.C. casinos. Government-issued foreign ID is on the list as well.
Why is the ID scanned?
Each card is run by security against a roster of people refused entry, Game Break enrolees included. Nothing personal is stored by the system for guests allowed inside.
What does a guest aged 19 to 25 bring to an event?
The casino's event booklet asks guests aged 19 to 25 for a second piece of valid ID. That comes on top of the government-issued photo ID every guest shows on entry.
